Michael A. Curi, MD, MPA is Chief of Vascular Surgery, and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Surgery at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School. He serves as Director of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery at University Hospital and at Jersey City Medical Center. He received his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College, and a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) studying Health Policy & Management from The Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. He has served as Treasurer for University Physicians Associates, President of the Medical Staff at University Hospital, and Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Foundation for University Hospital. He is a graduate of New Jersey Medical School and went on to complete his surgical residency at The University of Chicago where he spent two years performing cutting-edge research utilizing gene therapy and novel biological agents to prevent intimal hyperplasia post vascular intervention. He completed his fellowship in Vascular & Endovascular Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, where was mentored by pioneers in vascular surgery including Dr. Gregorio Sicard and Dr. Juan Parodi. His publications include scholarly investigations as well as the description of novel surgical therapies in leading vascular journals, chapters in seminal textbooks, as well as an intersocietal expert Consensus Statement on Endovascular Treatment of Thoracic Aortic Disease and SVS Guidelines for the Treatment of Blunt Thoracic Aortic Injury. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Vascular Surgery, Vascular & Endovascular Surgical Society and The Eastern Vascular Society. Dr. Curi is certified by the American Board Surgery.
